'The Hindu' newspaper, one of the leading newspapers
in South India publishes a 'Student Edition' of the paper
at cost of Rs 600 per year. Tuticorin School came to know
about it last year and subscribed it for senior students.
The students loved it and wanted to carry them home
but the school could not afford to continue the subscriptions.
This year the management proposed a solution in which five
newspapers are purchased for each section. The total cost is
shared among students so that each student contributes Rs 10
each month. The students take the newspapers home later
which makes them feel good about their contribution. The
school is also happy to see students engaged in reading newspapers
daily.
The students share that they are pretty happy with this arrangement!
