Project Green Hands (http://www.projectgreenhands.org) is
a social outreach project of Isha Outreach, whose aim is to
create a green Tamilnadu through its mass tree plantation
drives. From being in the danger of becoming a desert-like
terrain, Tamilnadu has come a long way in the past 12 years
to become a better greener state, thanks to the tireless efforts
of Project Green Hands!
Creating awareness about environment and the importance of
trees is done at early ages for Isha Vidhya students. As part
of this effort, the first grade students of Nagercoil school visited
a farm maintained by Project Green Hands, as a field trip.
In the farm nursery, the students observed various types of
saplings and trees. They also noticed how the soil preparation
is done. The teachers guided the students to observe the parts
of plants and compare them with that of trees.
The students were very curious to learn many things, and asked
a lot of questions. The Project Green Hands Nagercoil in-charge
Mr. Murugananthan patiently answered all their questions.
After that very educational trip, back in the school, the students
were asked to reflect on their trip through drawings. We are
attaching photographs of their trip and the drawings for you!
