Gift an education...Make a life !

"A Career in R&D / Engineering - A Choice or Chance?" was
Dr. Sureshkumar's topic in the "Profession with Passion" series
held on October 8th, 2016.

And that's the first time for the students of the remote Isha Vidhya
Villupuram school. And what a start! The two 40 minutes sessions
turned into a fascinating afternoon for the 9th to 11th grade students
through conceptual PowerPoint presentations and peppy video clips

Dr. Sureshkumar, is a Divisional Manager for the R&D
Division at Daimler India Commercial Vehicles Private Limited,
Chennai with 17 years of experience.  He's from a farming background,
and fascinated by the idea of how to innovate vehicles according to the
needs of the people, rather than just mass-generate vehicles for the
market. Suresh holds a Ph.D.

He got students to think about what they see around them on a daily
basis.  What makes the wheels of a cycle turn? How does a street
vendor turn direction of his four wheeled push cart? How is the differential
functioning? The video from the 1930's explaining it was a hit and so was
the futuristic clip on driver-less cars, trucks on autopilot ended the
afternoon!

Shared a student: "I enjoyed the session. It was really amazing. I want
to produce more products after hearing his experience and help the |
farmers like my father. The last video showed me how our world is
developing day by day and the people's interest to develop something new."

Shares Sureshkumar: "Yesterday was a memorable day for me and my
family. Being with Isha school students will remain in my memories for
long. I was taken aback when saw a high raised school building amid a
green paddy field. I was expecting a typical village school, but i saw a
modern school built with environmental consciousness. I wonder if even
the city school students may have the luxury to study in natural lights
and cool breeze.

The students were amazing. I could sense the curiosity about their
future career. Their questions are very relevant about their future and they
exhibited humbleness mixed with ambitious vision.

I am grateful to you for making this arrangement. It's an opportunity for me
to give back knowledge i gained. I am confident that the students will take
up engineering career by choice and will dream up to build engineering
marvelous that serves peoples across the world.

Wish that I could join in dialogue with these students also in future!"
