Project Report | Dec 29, 2024
Looking forward to the Year 2025!

By Godfred Anin Osei | IT/Organizational Lead

Grow Ghana NGO continues to empower students through technology and life skills, ensuring they build a strong foundation for future success. At the beginning of the session this term, we focused on integrating new students into the ICT program by introducing them to essential computer operations, including mouse navigation and keyboard usage. Through interactive tutorials and hands-on practice, they quickly became comfortable with basic input devices, setting the stage for further learning.

To enhance their typing speed and accuracy, students participated in structured lessons and engaging typing games. Weekly challenges fostered a competitive yet supportive environment, motivating them to improve steadily. Progress was closely monitored, and personalized feedback was provided to address individual needs.

In addition to technical skills, soft skills training was a key focus. Workshops were conducted to develop teamwork, effective communication, and confidence-building. Students were encouraged to practice speaking up during presentations and delivering short talks on assigned topics while receiving constructive feedback to improve their delivery and engagement.

After the Christmas break, students will be introduced to coding fundamentals using Scratch. They will explore creating animations and simple interactive projects, to help them spark creativity and problem-solving skills. This initiative will resume after the holidays, with plans to expand into more complex projects that further develop their logical thinking and technical abilities.

Looking ahead, we plan to build on the students’ Scratch knowledge by introducing loops, conditional statements, and collaborative project work. Integration activities for new students will be enhanced with more interactive exercises to ensure a seamless transition. Additionally, we will deepen soft skills training through role-playing and peer feedback, while regular evaluations and recognition of achievements will keep students motivated and engaged.

Thank you for supporting our mission to equip students with essential skills for thriving in a technology-driven world.
