Talking about hand hygiene and why it's important
Talking about hand hygiene and why it's important

Hello friends of Prime Trust!

We've had so many new things happen for the Janani Home girls. We've had so many great and wonderful volunteers come visit and spend quality time with the girls. Let's give you guys some updates!

From France, we had three great volunteers who held awareness programs. Their first program was on hand hygiene. In India, it is normal practice to eat all our meals with our hands. So it's really important that we learn good hand hygiene! Following the hygiene program, the girls held a dental health program. They talked to our young ladies about the proper way to brush and care for our teeth. The volunteers also kindly donated new tooth brushes, paste and floss! *Flashes shiny gleaming teeth*

Next, the girls' eye health was up! We had four wonderful volunteers from Spain who made it their goal to ensure all the girls were up-to-date on their eye exams. One of the volunteers was an optician by trade, and ran a short eye test at home. When it was determined that some of them needed more thorough check ups, we took the girls to the eye hospital. The volunteers also generously agreed to cover all costs for the girls who needed glasses. What an incredbly important way to make a HUGE difference in our girls' lives. We think they look like distinguished scholars in their new glasses!

There was also other useful programs that educated the girls on sexual assault and safety, learning techniques for school and....wait for it...magic lessons. We had two volunteers show and then teach the girls simple magic tricks! How fun!

The highlight, however, was the road trip we took as a whole team! It was incredible to see the towering ancient structures at the Gingee fort and to learn their histories. Afterwhich, we travelled to the Sathanur Dam and had fun learning about dams, watching crocodiles and playing together. Finally, we finished off with a visit to the Thiruvanamalai temple. Our trip truly felt like a family affair!
