Educate & Care for 100 Girls in Puducherry

Summary

This project aims to support underprivileged children by providing education, safe place to stay, health care and all-round development.

Many girls in Pondicherry and neighboring districts of Tamil Nadu are not provided resources they need to acquire a good education live a safe life and overcome obstacles that women in India have to face. The girl children are not given an equal opportunity to have education and healthy food.

Solution

We, at Janani Home provide safe place to stay, healthy food and structured days for the children. The children will have opportunities to have extracurricular activities such as dance, music, tailoring and embroidery etc., In addition to that they will have a doctor’s visit every month to take care of their health. Regular counseling session will be offered to the children to come out of their stress.

Long-Term Impact

The girls will be brought up in an healthy environment that will equip them with the tools to lead a self-reliant life. We remove the children from neglectful and abusive homes, and give them a chance to be surrounded by loving individuals. The nutritional, medical and educational care they receive will create a structured and safe life. The Janani home also provides a safe place where they girls can be nurtured, as children, and become productive members of society, when they reach adulthood.

Updates

With the help of our volunteers, the children are getting computer classes. One day program was organized for the children to visit few of the historical places, temples and churches in south India. The children had the opportunity to celebrate Hindu and Christian festivals.
