Summary
This project aims to help transform the lives of underprivileged young girls living at the Janani home by providing needs that range from food, shelter and all-rounded education.
Challenge
Many girls in Pondicherry are not provided resources they need such as good education, live a safe life. The girls have to overcome many obstacles that women in India have to face. Girls are discriminated from boys and they are not getting equal opportunities such as education, food and other opportunities. The girls are coming from poor background and girls are forced to take up work and earn or they are made to stay back at home to take care of young ones.
Solution
Janani home provides proper shelter, food and structured day for the young girls living there. Their stay is comfortable, clean and supervised by several adults. They attend evening school daily and various extra-curricular activities such as art, dancing and singing. Prime Trust also provides the girls with access to quality medical care. This consistence and active work being done at the Janani home is sure to leave lasting and positive impact on the girls who call this place home.
Long-Term Impact
The girls will be brought up in an environment that will equip them with the tools to lead a self-reliant life. We remove the children from neglectful and abusive homes, and give them a chance to be surrounded by loving individuals. The nutritional, medical and educational care they receive will create a structured and safe life. The Janani home also provides a safe place where they girls can be nurtured, as children, and become productive members of society, when they reach adulthood.
The Janani Home supports the children and provide all necessities and try to re-integrate into their families.
