Janani Home for underprivileged children in India
It has been approximately 2.5 months since rains ravaged our Janani Home. Once the flood water was drained completely from the Rainbow Nagar neighborhood, the girls were able to slowly return to their regular activities.
Since our Janani Home was flood heavily, most (if not all) of our items were beyond salvaging. We had to get rid of a lot the electronic items, such as a fridge, washing machine, grinder, blenders etc. However, through GlobalGiving and our generous donors, we were able to successfully fundraise for our home!
As noted from the first page, we managed to raise over USD$6000, which helped us take some big steps forward! Since January, the Janani Home has moved to a new home in a nearby neighborhood - Krishna Nagar. The new home is well taken care of and the girls have ample space to study, rest, and most importantly, have a fun and safe place to be be children without the worry of flooding!
We also bought new/used electronics, books, bags, clothing and plenty of healthy foods for the girls. We have many wonderful staff and volunteers that not just help the girls with their school work, but spend quality time getting to know them.
However, the work left to do is still pending. As ever, we still need donations to keep our home functioning at its best. So, friends, please continue to spread the word about our on-going project and donate generous when you can.
