Summary
To support the underprivileged children in the community by providing safe accommodation, education, health care.
Challenge
Many girl children are not given equal opportunity as that of boys. Most of the girl children after attaining puberty are not sent to schools. They are forced to work at home and take care of the siblings. In some families, the girl children were sent for domestic work and even some are forced to prostitution.
Solution
Janani home was created to provide need and support for the deprived children to have good education, healthy food, proper shelter and health care. Their stay is made comfortable and clean and supervised by several adults. The children attend evening school every day and opportunities are provided to have extracurricular activities such as dancing, drawing and singing.
Long-Term Impact
The setting up of this program is to bring the children from difficult situation to safe environment. We remove the children from neglectful and abusive homes and give them a chance to be surrounded by loving individuals. The nutritional, medical and educational care they receive will create a structured and safe life.
Updates
After the summer holidays, the children came back on 5th June 2017. At present we have 16 children. Among 16, we have 2 new children. The children were given small orientation and rules and regulations were given. This year we have shifted all to the government run schools. One girl entered into the University and she is undergoing Bachelor's degree in commerce. Soon a teacher would be appointed to offer them extra tuitions.
