FYF COUNTRY DIRECTOR RECEIVES SINJAR HUMAN RIGHTS AWARD

Last week, Hewan Omer received the Sinjar Human Rights Award – Special Mention 2025 by the House of Coexistence. This recognition honors her dedication to justice, dignity, and the resilience of the Yezidi people. Selected as one of 8 awardees out of 51 nominees, her work reflects the collective strength, courage, and perseverance of survivors, advocates, and community people who continue to lead the path toward healing after the genocide.
"Today I receive this recognition as an honors to the strength and resilience of the Yazidi people especially our women who have carried the weight of unimaginable suffering since the Yezidi genocide and yet continue to rise. They rebuild, they learn, and they lead. Their courage reminds us that resilience is not merely survival but the power to ignite hope even in the darkest of times.”
At FYF, we are deeply proud of her commitment to accountability, survivor support, and human rights protection.
