Florence started from scratch building her business from the bottom and something we call “Consistent Baby Steps”. Florence lives in Muyuka, 45-year-old, strong, hardworking and smart. Before being supported with business capital, her “koki beans” business was barely alive due to limited capital and a lack of proper business management knowledge/skills. Being empowered by Reach Out Cameroon she has gained management skills and also entrepreneurial skills, record keeping skill.
She received a financial support of business capital worth 57,200F and 114,400F in cash, a total of 171,600 FRS which is approximately $303. She used this to reestablish and expand her business. Despite the challenges of having fewer days of sales due to the high levels of insecurity in her area, she has stayed resilient and determined to succeed. Florence now runs her business on a higher level than a year ago. Today she can purchase up to 300kg of farm produce to resell in local markets as compared to 50kg she used to purchase before. She resells items like plantains, cocoyam, yams and potatoes.
Thanks to the hands-on business management skills she acquired from Reach Out NGO through the training on entrepreneurship, she has been able to management her business despite the up and down in the economy.
