Time past, challenges comes and goes, seasons change. The Keep A Girl Alive program has really impacted a lot of girls in the southwest region of Cameroon, especially girls from Buea Subdivision. We have trained quite a hand full of girls on Entrepreneurship, book keeping, personal hygiene and so many other valuable skills necessary for their growth and empowerment. 80% of these girls have kept on with their businesses and they still keep pushing forward to ensure their business doesn’t only survive but they reach a point for expansion.
Today the woman on the spotlight is Blanche. When we talk about resilience, we can point to her. Amidst the storms and crisis she faced in her business she still survived it. Two years ago Blanche almost lost everything in her business; she went from a capital of 500,000frs to barely nothing. But she didn’t give up, she started building up herself from scratch. With the help of the training she had received from Reach Out and constant follow up, Blanche was able to manage her business right up to this point.
After the struggles and perseverance, today Blanche has a shop of her own. She owns of the biggest provision shops in her neighbourhood. Blanche now has an employee. We don’t have a lot of Blanche in our communities these days who can really stand the test of time.
Blanche journey to financial independence won’t have been possible without the support from GlobalGiving. And there are still more girls out there who needs just a push and we hope we can be able to reach out to them.
