Infuse U.S. Classrooms with Music for Learning!

Here at GITC, we're excited to report your generous donations to this project, Infusing Learning with Music in Pre-K-8 Classrooms made a magnificent difference in the schools last year!  Your gifts have helped train 240 teachers and reach 23,000 children in 2012!  Every day, a child's mind is being engaged through active music participation in our schools, and in our small way, we're helping schools thrive.

Since this fundraising project began, as the result of your contributions, we’ve been running new programs in Mississippi, Georgia, Alabama, California, Colorado, Massachussets, Vermont and Arizona.  And we are happy to announce that Guitars In The Classroom is expanding to Canada this summer!  Please stay tuned for more information on this exciting development. Your gifts have paid for training, curriculum development, office supplies, program insurance, musical supplies, instrument cases, and even some ukuleles!

While we've come a long way on this goal together in 2012, we still have a long way to go in 2013 and we need your contunued support. With more funding, GITC can ensure that the teacher training both continues and grows through the dedication of our faculty trainers, and we also can provide more ukuleles to public schools classrooms. Through our manufacturer partnerships, GITC is able to purchase ukuleles for just $25 each that can be played by new students every year. This means your contribution dollars will turn into instruments to be played by many young hands, and these experiences will open the door to making music even in times when traditional music programs are being elimintaed. Your acts of kindness are making music a hands-on reality for thousands of disadvantaged children including some in Victorville, California, a high poverty and high crime area where making music helps children gain a sense of safety and belonging.

Additionally, we’d like to invite you to participate in a special giving opportunity right here at GlobalGiving.  On Wednesday March 13 beginning at 12:01 a.m. EST, for each donation received, GlobalGiving will increase its value by 30%.  This means that if you give $100, your generous gift will provide FIVE ukuleles, rather than four.  If our donors, like you, utilize this day of giving, we can provide more children with the opportunity to play along.
