Challenge

In Awutu Senya East Municipal, Ghana, many adolescent girls face severe challenges managing menstruation due to limited access to products, inadequate facilities, and insufficient education. Stigma, misinformation, and fear of embarrassment cause low-income girls to regularly miss school and lose confidence. Without practical support, menstruation becomes a critical barrier to their fundamental dignity, personal wellbeing, and future educational opportunities.

Solution

RAHE Ghana will support 3,000 adolescent girls in 30 basic schools through menstrual health education, reusable pad-making training, supplies, and improved school support spaces. Teachers, community health workers, parents, boys, and local leaders will participate in awareness activities to challenge stigma and promote hygienic practices. This project equips girls with the vital knowledge and skills to manage menstruation confidently and participate fully in school.

Long-Term Impact

RAHE Ghana aims to improve menstrual health knowledge, confidence, and school attendance for 3,000 adolescent girls in Awutu Senya East Municipal. By strengthening school support, teaching reusable pad-making, and engaging families, this initiative drives lasting changes in hygiene practices. It removes learning barriers, protects girls' dignity, and empowers local communities to sustain vital menstrual health education long after the project ends.
