The malaria situation in our village remains very serious. People are becoming sick almost every day, while the large number of mosquitoes continues to put families, especially young children, at great risk.
Yesterday, our community experienced a heartbreaking loss when a 4-year-old child reportedly died from malaria. The family had been struggling with the many mosquitoes in the village, and this tragic death has increased the fear and concern among other families.
Karitas Relief Mission is continuing to visit and support affected families, but our resources are very limited. Many households do not have enough mosquito nets to protect every family member, leaving children exposed during the night.
Malaria is particularly dangerous for children under five. WHO reports that children in this age group are at the greatest risk of severe malaria and death. We urgently need support to provide insecticide-treated mosquito nets to vulnerable families. These nets can help reduce mosquito exposure and are an important malaria prevention measure recommended in Uganda.
Karitas Relief Mission is appealing to our GlobalGiving donors and supporters to stand with these families. Every mosquito net provided can help protect a child and give a family hope.
