Project Report | Mar 4, 2024
This year we have 100% Transition into high school

By Michael Wamaya | Team Leader Project Elimu Kenya

Part of our show Changes.
Part of our show Changes.

Our dance school has made progress in dance inclusivity, access to education for all, and community engagement through our powerful voices in our performances.

100% Transition into High School:

Through your donations. We are proud to report that we have achieved a  100% transition  into high school this year.  Our students have shown exceptional growth and dedication in their dance education, and our after-school academic catch-up classes during school holidays provided a platform for children who initially had learning difficulties to find help from their peers and an opportunity to work one-on-one with dedicated teachers. Through this initiative, all our primary school students who did their end year exams in 2023 have been able to successfully transition into high school through a variety of scholarships.

Inclusive Dance Programme:

Our school's key mission has always been to provide an inclusive environment where individuals of all backgrounds and abilities can participate in dance together. Over the past year, we have expanded our dance programme's reach, offering tailored classes that accommodate the diverse needs and abilities of our participants. Through adaptive techniques and supportive instructors, we have welcomed individuals with disabilities, ensuring that everyone can experience the joy and benefits of dance

Community Show: "Changes":

Our  dance centre produced a groundbreaking community show titled "Changes" in December, which sparked crucial discussions around children's rights and accessibility to menstrual products. Through the power of dance and storytelling, we shed light on important issues affecting our community and advocated for equitable access to essential resources, like menstrual products and children's safe spaces. The production received overwhelming support from the community.

Our Project Elimu students made their fast music and a video in Kibera to show off our work. They stress how important it is for kids to learn about the arts and have safe places to play and be themselves. Please watch
