By Martin Fenton | Treasurer, Karen Fenton Ovarian Cancer Fund
The annual Karen Fenton Memorial Run was hosted in Ballinora, Waterfall on April 23rd, 2023.
This event has been organised since the 1st anniversary of Karen's death in 2018. Though the road race didn't take it's usual format until 2022 and 2023 as a result of Covid. This is a 5km road race organised and hosted by the Fenton Family in memory of Karen who passed away in April 2017, aged 43.
The event was a huge success attracting registerations of over 400. There was a fantastic turnout in the hall after for post-race refreshments. The event raised over €5k which will be put towards ovarican cancer research and services. The specific details will be worked out later.
We have made great progress over the past few years to honor Karen's legacy. Our fundraising efforts culminated in the purchase of a cancer sequencing machine for CUH where Karen spent much of the final 2 years of her life.
Thanks to everyone who has supported our fund over the past few years.
