By Martin Fenton | Treasurer, Karen Fenton Ovarian Cancer Fund
Activities for the Karen Fenton Fund have been minimal these past few months. We've had a successful fundraising year especially with regard to the annual Karen Fenton Memorial Run which was hosted in Ballinora, Waterfall on April 13, 2025. We are also very grateful for all donations received through the GlobalGiving platform.
We have made great progress over the past few years to honor Karen's legacy. Our fundraising efforts culminated in the purchase of a cancer sequencing machine for CUH where Karen spent much of the final 2 years of her life.
This year we also donated €50,000 to Breakthrough Cancer Research and specifically to support research exploring how to improve immune therapies, especially by boosting weakened "natural killer" cells, to better fight high-grade serous ovarian cancer in patients who don't respond to current treatments. In addition, we continue to support Anam Cara - a parental bereavement service that has been of particular help to Karen's parents and Martin Fenton & Micheal Fenton will be participating in the Irish Life Dublin City Marathon in October to help raise funds for Anam Cara.
We are actively planning the next annual Karen Fenton Memorial Run for April 26th, 2026, one day before Karen's anniversary.
Thanks to everyone who has supported our fund over the past few years.
