Dear Friends and Supporters,
Warm greetings from all of us at Omega Global Development. We pray that you are well and encouraged. We are deeply grateful for your continued support, love, and guidance for our Kids for Kids Goat Project, which is designed to empower vulnerable children through livestock ownership, responsibility training, improved nutrition, and small-scale income-generating opportunities.
We would like to share a recent update from the project.
Three of the goats that were expecting have now given birth. A total of six kids were born. Sadly, only two of the newborn kids survived. Four were born with physical deformities, including lameness and blindness, which affected their ability to survive, and they passed away within three days. This was disappointing for the children involved, as they care deeply for the animals and are learning stewardship and resilience through the program.
Despite this challenge, the overall herd has continued to grow. The project now has 51 goats, and two additional goats are expected to give birth soon. The children remain hopeful and are actively participating in feeding, monitoring, and caring for the animals as part of their learning experience.
Another important area of progress is the planned construction of a goat shelter. Due to limited financial resources, the shelter has not yet been completed. However, steps are being taken. Four metal poles have already been secured to provide essential structural support for the shelter roof. The next priority is to purchase iron sheets, which will allow construction to continue and provide better protection for the goats from rain, sun, and predators.
This project continues to play a vital role in teaching children responsibility, agricultural skills, and the value of long-term planning, while also strengthening their households' food security.
We are grateful for your partnership in helping children build hope for the future. Your support makes it possible for this program to continue growing and impacting young lives in meaningful and sustainable ways.
