KIDS Support Groups in Brazil

The KIDS support groups in Brazil had the opportunity to expand their great work this year! They organized various activities, workshops, games and trainings throughout the year and have reached many people, especially youth. The Blue Cross Brazil has expanded play-based activities around prevention by strengthening life skills of children and young people. Their aim is to empower young people in the groups to make healthy choices, even if alcohol abuse is an issue in their families.

With alcohol and other drugs being a major problem for many people in their communities, KIDS support groups are more important than ever! It is a place where children, as well as parents and other family members, are welcome and receive support in circumstances of social vulnerability. 

Blue Cross Brazil has also worked with indigenous communities this year. This is a very difficult context as they are especially vulnerable to alcohol and other drugs in their communities. Blue Cross Brazil established partnerships to help indigenous people, particularly with regard to the problem of alcoholism in their villages.

In addition, Blue Cross Brazil has trained and motivated many new volunteers and leaders. They have been sensitized to always have an eye of love and hope for the lives of the children and young people who participate in the groups. No matter how vulnerable and difficult the situation may be, people can change through the action of God in their lives!
