Dear Kresy-Siberia Virtual Museum donors,
Thank you again for your generous support of Kresy-Siberia. Your donations to the Global Giving campaign, now totalling $2,285, ensure that work continues on the Kresy-Siberia Virtual Museum www.Kresy-Siberia.org to research, remember and recognize Poland's citizens fighting for survival and freedom in eastern Poland’s “Kresy” and in forced exile during World War II.
We are pleased that our message continues to get out, with our world-wide Facebook discussion group www.facebook.com/groups/KresySiberiaGroup recently growing to over 1,000 members. Please invite your friends and family to join the group and to add biographies, photographs and documents to the Virtual Museum.
Unfortunately, our work on adding names to the Wall of Tribute as well as interview excerpts to the Hall of Testimonies has temporarily been put on hold due to a “cyber attack” by unknown hackers that shut down these sections of the Virtual Museum. Our IT team assures us that our material is safely backed up and they are working around the clock to restore these sections so that our work can resume.
We have just returned from our most successful conference yet – “Generations Remember 2016” – held in Warsaw from September 17-19. You can view the program and list of speakers at www.GenerationsRemember.org and a news clip on Polish TV at https://www.facebook.com/KresySiberia/videos/1099570606785935
The event marked the 75th anniversary of the World War II "amnesty" and release of Poles from Soviet captivity, and was an opportunity to meet living witnesses of those events and descendants of “Sybiraks”, “Kresowians” and “Combatants-in-exile” from all over the world. We organized the conference with support from the Association of Siberian Deportees, the History Meeting House and the Katyn Museum, as well as financial support from Poland’s Office for Veterans and Victims of Oppression. The opening reception keynote speaker was Senator Anna Maria Anders, daughter of the Armed Forces-in-Exile’s General Wadysaw Anders. About 50 participants from around the world took part in conference activities, including:
Plan to join us in Poland next year and put aside the dates of September 17-19, 2017 now.
With gratitude and warm regards,
