Meet 'Mili', a spirited 12-year-old girl, whose life took a remarkable turn thanks to your support for our Karate program in Forbesganj's red-light area.
"Mili," as she's affectionately called by her peers, carries a history that no child should ever bear. Her mother was ensnared in the cruel web of human trafficking. Raised in poverty, marked by low-caste status, and bullied at school for her origins, Mili's life is far from easy.
Apne Aap's dojo has become her sanctuary, a place where she can build self-esteem and develop essential skills to protect herself. It is also where she finds food and a community of like-minded souls, all striving for a better future.
She says: "Karate has become my a lifeline, a source of strength, and a path to self-discovery. It's not just about learning self-defense; it's about teachers, friends, food, and a safe space. Apne Aap is giving us the tools to protect ourselves and the confidence to succeed in school. W're rewriting our futures, and chasing our dreams. "
20 girls like "Milli" are enrolled in Apne Aap's Karate program right now. We hope with your support to raise the number to 50 in the new year..
