Contribute to Long-Term Rebuilding in Haiti

The organization ASIDC (Association of Irrigation Systems Dori / Caravan) presented to Lambi a project to concretize a part of four secondary irrigation canals on a length of 100 m that would cost more than 6,00.000.00 gourds.

This improvement work on the canals allows more land to be irrigated in better conditions. Thus, fields that depend on these four canals would produce more crops, which addresses the food insecurity problem of the people living in the area.

The money was for sand, cement and other materials needed for the work such as strings, drums, buckets, wooden pallets. The association provided all the necessary stones for a valley of 500,000.00 so that the work could be achieved.

The purchase of materials began in late summer and work began in autumn. The planters worked quickly, after two and a half months all the work has been completed in the four canals. The members of the Organization (women and men) participated a lot in the achievements of the work from cleaning to drawing the canal (removing grass), hauling stones, hauling water, beating mortar.

The water currently flows through all the canals, allowing more land to be irrigated in one planting season because the water flows faster through the canals.

The planters on the irrigated perimeter of each channel are very satisfied, it will allow them to grow more food and avoid the disputes that usually exist in the distribution of water.
