We help elderly people living in geriatric boarding houses in Ukraine who have mobility limitations, illnesses, or other needs that require special equipment and care. This project will help to provide comfortable beds for 136 bedridden residents of geriatric nursing homes in Ukraine who cannot use regular beds due to physical limitations. We involve the public in donations and awareness of the needs of elderly people and maintaining a decent standard of living. Our project operates in Ukraine.
More than a third of the residents of geriatric nursing homes in Ukraine are elderly people who cannot move or care for themselves, and are often bedridden. These people practically grow together with the place they are in. The bed is like a skin for them, but often this skin is in poor condition. Outdated equipment can be seen in many state-run geriatric nursing homes in Ukraine. Under the conditions of martial law in the country, funding for the replacement of medical equipment is impossible.
This project has the potential to improve the quality of life of older people and impact systemic problems. The project will provide 136 bedridden elderly people in geriatric nursing homes in Kyiv and Dnipro regions with the necessary medical equipment. The project will purchase 136 functional medical beds, 28 pressure ulcer mattresses with a compressor, 28 classic pressure ulcer mattresses, 80 medical mattresses, 136 waterproof mattress covers and 136 bedside tables for feeding bedridden people
Providing proper care and comfort can have a positive impact on the physical and mental health of bedridden patients. The project can draw attention to the problems of geriatric institutions and promote changes in funding and equipment. Supporting social interaction can improve quality of life and reduce loneliness.
