Greetings Friends,

At Ojala Ninos our mission is continuous. This GlobalGiving project and our goal, to build a community center, is closer and closer to being a reality.

As many of you know, Ojala Ninos A.C. started truly bare bones, grassroots without our founders intention of creating this organization. The noticable needs and lack of services in the rural community she moved to thirteen years ago, heightened her awareness and conscientiousness. Starting  between two patios, hers and a neighbors, Ojala Ninos came to be.

Over the years we have provided workshops, academic classes, sports, art classes, tutoring and cultural events for the community. Today we have over 100 registered kids along with workshops for the adults.

We have managed to facilitate these  opportunities in "borrowed space". Ojala Ninos owns the lot we are building on. During Covid we maintained contact and disbursed supplies to the children and their families from our lot.  We have had celebrations for Holidays and community meetings on our lot. We slowly secured the property with a wall, we have water and electricity, we have a play structure and a half finished building.  Most recently we have installed a septic tank and cistern. Bathrooms are our next priorty.

We had a garden and will replace it once the digging is done for these recent instalations. The pictures below show our progress and some of the smiling faces we serve.

As always, we appreciate your continued support!

Sincerely

Betty Lopez
