Peace support for Syrian and Lebanese communities

Dear Peace Supporters,

we are very happy to inform you that, despite difficult circumstances, we have achieved the objectives for the first 3 years of our project, the period that was co-funded by the European Union. Kindly find below the results in numbers. We are currently writing a final project report as well as preparing a final project video, which we will share here once they are ready.

In the meantime, it is challenging to continue working in Lebanon because of the very difficult economic-social-political situation, which makes life very hard and uncertain for the populations we work with as well as impractical to organise activities. We stay in touch with our beneficiaries, keep providing ongoing support, complete the certification process of several new local trainers, and support their initiatives, while we prepare together with them for more expansive work once the situation in Lebanon improves.

Project in Numbers

• 16,249 Syrian, Jordanian and Lebanese children affected by trauma, conflict and violence have received basic training in stress relief and resilience tools (Stress Relief and Resilience workshops - SRR)
• 636 children most at risk of violent behaviour, self-harm, suicide, aggression or recruitment, have received deep trauma-relief, empowerment and human values training (Trauma-Relief, Healing and Human Values training - THRH)
• 167 specially trained Youth Anti-Violence and Peace Ambassadors (YAVAP) got the confidence, wellbeing, skills and inspiration to prevent and reduce violence in their families, schools and communities
• 2,811 parents and caregivers participate in Healing, Resilience, and Empowerment Training to enable them to improve their quality of life and provide a supportive and violence-free environment for their children
• 477 Frontline Workers (teachers, social and youth workers) participated in the Personal Resilience, Stress Management and Professional/Self-Care Training to prevent burn-out and improve stress management, personal resilience, wellbeing and performance capacity
• 99 frontline workers graduated from the Training of Trainers to keep multiplying stress relief techniques in their schools and communities on a sustainable basis

Youth Peace Ambassadors design and implement 15 Peacebuilding Projects to prevent and reduce violence in their families, schools and communities

o   Topics: domestic violence, early marriage, violence against women and children, violence from school drop-out and drugs, bullying, cyber blackmail, conflict between Jordanian and Syrian youth, sexual harassment, violence from stress and negative coping strategies, peer conflicts

o   Forms: theatre plays, musical, flash mob, dance, songs, movies, football games, music classes, interactive discussions, silent tableaus, graffiti, social campaigns, workshops

Estimated indirect outreach: 100,000+ people

o   Peace Ambassadors host 4 community celebrations with performances to raise awareness and share the values of peace with wider communities

o   Media exposure through 17 items, including 5 live TV coverages

o   2 Project Closure Ceremonies attended by 1,500+ people

o   4 Multi-Stakeholder Meetings and dozens of individual Stakeholder Meetings
