By Hasan Kizildag | Mentorship project
Dear Donor,
Within the scope of the 12th term of ÇYDD Mentoring Project, Mentee and mentor applications were received and it was determined that there were 1073 mentees and 318 mentors who wanted to participate in the Project. The reason why mentor applications are relatively less this year is that the ÇYDD Mentor Pool has been created and the branches want to continue the process with mentors who are experienced from previous periods.
This term mentee trainings were planned in two stages in order to increase mentees' awareness and willingness about the project. In the first stage, sessions were held where our experienced mentees, who had taken part in the project in previous periods, shared their experiences with new mentee candidates. This first phase, carried out with three experienced mentees, was carried out in three separate sessions. In the second stage, the roles and responsibilities of the mentee were explained - the same content that was given in previous years - by our volunteer trainers. The second stage training was also repeated three times. During the mentee preparation meetings, which lasted more than 12 hours in total, the questions of the mentee candidates were also answered.
On the other hand, for mentor candidates, our introduction to mentor skills training was given in two three-hour sessions, four sets of training in total. Approximately 800 mentees and mentors attended the trainings. The difference between the number of applications and the number of people attending the training is due to the fact that some branches want to provide face-to-face training to their candidates instead of online training, and some candidates are former mentees and mentors. Our trainings are mandatory only for mentees and mentors who join the project for the first time.
During November, we will continue with mentee-mentor matching, introductory meetings at the branches, first meetings and Mentornity entries. Following the first meetings, sessions will be planned according to the needs of our mentees and mentors, taking into account the time and attendance of our volunteer trainers.
Thank you for supporting us in our 12th year..
Kind regards,
