In 2025, Les Gazelles de Bruxelles continued to bring people together through sport. Every week, our running groups, dance classes, and fitness sessions welcomed people from many backgrounds, including newcomers, refugees, women, young people, and people facing difficult life situations.
Throughout the year, we organized more than 390 sports sessions, reaching over 3,200 participations across Brussels. Our runners also proudly represented the community in 16 races, including the 20 km of Brussels, the Refugee Walk, and the Brussels Airport Marathon, with 218 total race participations. For many participants, these races were their first time joining a public sporting event, moments of pride, courage, and celebration.
A very special moment came at the end of August, after months of preparation. Les Gazelles finally moved into a new location. Since then, the team has focused on transforming this place into a safe and welcoming multifunctional space for people from the neighbourhood and from all over Brussels. The new space allows us to bring more activities together and strengthen the sense of community that defines Les Gazelles.
Our Sportswitch initiative also grew this year. We collected over 1,050 kg of sports clothing, giving it a second life through our circular sportswear shop. In the last three months of the year alone, the shop welcomed 357 customers and generated €3,366, while 508 solidarity cards helped people with limited resources access sports clothing with dignity.
The new location has already become a lively meeting place. Participants gather not only for sport but also for sewing workshops, volunteer activities, and weekly language conversation tables.
Step by step, run by run, Les Gazelles continues to build a community where people feel welcome, active, and connected.
