Less waste, more food

Fresh fruit for a healthy breakfast
Fresh fruit for a healthy breakfast

Since the launch of the Fund for Special Rescues, Argentina’s Food Bank network has been able to respond rapidly to high-impact food recovery opportunities that would otherwise have been lost. In 2025 alone, the network rescued more than 6,293,000 kilograms of fresh fruits and vegetables, demonstrating strong operational capacity across the country.

Through the Fund’s flexible mechanism, additional surplus produce can now be recovered before spoilage and redirected to social organizations serving vulnerable communities. These efforts improve food security while also reducing methane emissions associated with food waste.

Today, more than 1 million people rely on the Food Bank network for access to food, and 68% of them are children. For many families, this fresh produce represents one of their most reliable sources of nutritious meals. Your support helps transform surplus into nourishment—strengthening a more efficient and sustainable food system nationwide.

Impact

As part of our Healthy Breakfasts program, the Fund for Special Rescues distributed oranges and tangerines to more than 12,000 children. These fresh fruits provide vital nutrients and brighten the mornings of thousands of kids, turning surplus produce into a direct source of nourishment
