Project Report | Aug 7, 2025
Support and empowerment of street children

By Marija Virijevic | Project leader

Moments in the Children Daycare Center
Moments in the Children Daycare Center

From mid-April till end of July, at the Children's Daycare Center, we celebrated several birthdays, danced and  played a lot, learned through play, shared meals, and spent quality time together.

Through 140 services (lunches, baths, changing clothes, playing and studies) 21 different children (12 girls and 9 boys) used the services of the Children's Daycacre Center from April 14 to July 31, 2025, while three mothers received support to manage through the institutions, in obtaining and filling out documentation, etc.

We consider it especially important that, during this period, we managed to enroll some of the children in kindergarten and preschool (two children in kindergarten and one in preschool) and began preparing them, because, as the unwritten rule goes:

• street children do not go to kindergarten,

• street children do not go to school,

• street children have to go to the street to earn money for basic needs,

• street children often do not have electricity,

• street children do not have a living room or their own room,

• street children do not have their own bed but share it,

• street children are not read bedtime stories.

It's not exactly that they want to live like that, but who could tell them that it could be different and that they could be anything they wanted, when they have to survive each day until tomorrow.

If you are reading this, it means that you have contributed to the work of the Children Daycare Center for street children to have the opportunity to be just children and play for a few hours a day, have access to hot water, clean clothes and a meal. Thank you for that.

The Children Daycare Center is still in need of donations, so we invite you to donate when you are able and to share our story with your friends and invite them to support us as well.

Until next time, be well.
