Help People Escape Homelessness

Hi there,

I’d like to share a story that reminds us why your support through our Help People Escape Homelessness project matters so much.

Every week, volunteers from Ruta Alba travel through Cerro Navia carrying hot meals, fresh bread, and something equally important: the certainty that no one should be forgotten. Led by volunteers like Gustavo, Alejandra, and Baithiare, they visit people living on the streets, offering not only food but also compassion, conversation, and respect.

During one of these visits, we met Roxana, who is recovering from a leg amputation while living under a high-voltage tower, protected only by a plastic sheet alongside her son. Despite everything she has endured, she still speaks with kindness and hopes for a safer future. Volunteers are helping her access medical care while working to secure a place where she can recover with dignity.

Stories like Roxana's remind us that homelessness is about much more than lacking a roof. It is about people who deserve to be seen, heard, and treated with humanity.
