20 June was marked as World Refugee Day. And in Serbia, so many refugees from Middle East countries are forgotten and at the same place for years.
Jasmin is a refugee from Syria. She left her home country many years ago, when she was just two years old. Her family couldn`t reach the European country of their choice, where they already had family members. They stopped in Serbia, in one of the asylum center in 2016, hoping to find a way to get to the European union country. Unfortunately, they were pushed back from the border with Hungary and sent back to Serbian asylum center they left few days before.
Jasmin is missing the sense of stability and of the home they left many years ago. She doesn’t even remember living in her room. Her first memories are from the road and asylum centers across Balkan region.
They would never imagine that running away from the war in their home country they will fight so much to be part of the new surroundings. Now, they lost all of their hope. Jasmin is now ten years old. A long journey is in front of the family, and not very big opportunities to soon have their home. Jasmin wants to study. She witnessed as a child in asylum center how important education is. She understands that those of the parents that were speaking English somehow managed to get to the countries they wanted to go in the first place. Now Jasmin is fluently speaking Serbian and English language. This summer she will spend in the same place and the only home she knows of - asylum center.
Let`s help her dream come true: to go to the pool this summer, to buy new clothes and shoes for the next school year, since the old one is small now. Her dreams are so small, for some of us having more than we need, not being able to respect that every day.
Jasmin still has a hope to be the same as other children she is going to school with. Supporting her and many other children left or stuck in Serbia is a mission that we in Pomoc deci cherish.
Thank you for your donation so far, and hoping that together we can change the future of as many kids as possible.
Have a nice summer.
Sincerely yours,
Pomoc deci
