We are so incredibly grateful for your continous support!
Over the summer break, in Vranje's refugee camp, we have been running ICT literacy workshops.
Young children and teenagers met once a week where they were taught the basics of computer literacy, such as opening up an application, turning the computer on and off, looking up information, creating a PowerPoint amongst other tasks. Along with developing students’ computer skills, workshops also included math, history, geography and English classes which were taught by incorporating the computer into the classes.
In order to develop students’ cognitive, critical thinking and analytical skills, students were also able to play games on the computer, such as Puzzle and Origami. This makes the workshops more fun and interactive as students were able to compete with each other. This helped foster team spirit and students were able to forget the every day stresses of living in a refugee camp and focus on developing their skills.
Program coordinators say that the children are very keen to learn and are committed to working and improving their skills.
The workshops are just one aspect of the help we offer to children in these camps. We offer additional programs and in order to be able to continue the project, we are reliant on people like you. 100% of your donation goes towards providing resources (from diapers to psycho-social support and educational workshops)
As part of GlobalGiving’s effort to helping funds go even further, your entire donation will be matched. So do not hesitate and donate today.
