Planting trees and the environment is a priority of major proportion to the Lambi Fund. It is one that keeps us on alert so it is not incidental that we are asking people to plant trees together for a green Haiti. That request came from the perspectice that to create change, there must be awareness, action and reaction to the outcome. Well in Bige, in the locality of Grosmorne, when people are entering the community the change is noticeable, we see green at eye level with the growing trees over the last five years. As you walk through the changes are most striking, the goats are enclosed in pastured ground and there is food field at proximity, keeping the ground covered and there is more work in preparing the feed for the coming season.
We are pleased to report that we engaged many partners like you during this appeal: There were 160 persons who responded in social media and 90 others shared with their "in-group".
Let’s Plant Trees in Haiti, TOGETHER! received overwhelming support on social media. Facebook posts about the campaign were liked 160+ times and were shared over 90 times by different individuals. Log House Plants, a nursery based out of Cottage Grove, Oregon, curated a collection of Caribbean plants to be sold to benefit the Lambi Fund of Haiti. The Grow Haiti Collection features 10 plants that are native to Haiti and surrounding areas, but can also be grown in the Pacific Northwest. The collection includes 2 varieties of peanuts, scotch bonnet peppers, and a variety of tomato that dates back to the colonial period in Haiti. These plants were sold at nurseries in Oregon, Washington, and California, as well as Lambi Fund’s benefit in New York City in July.
Thanks to the generosity of the Global Giving Family and you, we will be planting 42,000 trees this year, thus far.
