Project Report | Dec 2, 2015
Together ahead with a new planting season.

Environment At worse
Environment At worse

As I write to you today, Josette said this afternoon. " Oh my god after nearly 8 months without rain, it is raining and we are afraid our trees and new seedling are getting overwatered and may even be washed away".  No exageration it is one of the most difficult season with over half the year emerged in a drought.  The planting season suffered but our environment projects started towards the end of the month of September 2015.  We have three projects of 120,000 trees each.  In addition each project initiated will be planting 20,000 trees as part of their reforestation goal.  Each one has started their nursery production.  As as the Association of Peasant Working Heads Together, referred to as APTK

The environment project of APTK was launched on September 21, 2015.  Training for nursery workers and volunteers took place between the 19th and 20th.  A total of 28 participants (13 women, 15 men) completed the training.  They expended 193,650 gourdes for the construction the trellis in the three localities identified for their reforestation sites.  The locations are:  Besi, gran Plas and Sizon.

The organization works twice a week on the nursery project.  They have seeded 12,000 individual tree seeds in two of the localities. During the first year, they will produce 60,000 trees in three zones. 20,000 fruit trees will be integrated in each 60,000 tree production. This is the rainy season and it is a good time to start before the pending dry season.

With your support we have began to reach our goal of planting 500,000 trees this year ending in 2016.  Our three projects combined will deliver 360,000.  In addition 4 projects in sustainable agriculture and animal husbandry,  micro credit will generate 20,000 each for  a total of 440,000.  This program is possible because of the committment of people like yourself.

We are grateful and wish you a peaceful Holiday Season with your friends and family!
