Nothing amazes us more in July than the greening of the south that looked burnt after Hurricane Mathew in October 2016. In July the board, staff and local partners met to assess where we are and review our strategy moving forward. Our july partner meeting was amid lush green gardens, budding coconut trees. ALthough we sat under tarps blowing in the wind we were aware that "la nature a horreur du vide" and our reforrestation policy and continuous effort is the path to a better future.
Our first priority after the storm was to replant in partnership with our farming partners and our second was reviving the lost of our nurseries holding 320,000 trees prior to October 2016. SADN, Association for the development of Nippes has began to regroup as a community and started planting again. They have provided plants and has generated revenue providing young seedling to the community dwellers who, with their renewed awareness want to replace their lost trees.
Our tree inventory is today as listed in the chart of production:

Each partner and members of their grassroot organization realize that without a renewed agro forestry, balance to provide shelter, guard from erosion and provide food, life as we know it is at risk in Haiti. The community rallies to produce our nurseries using the resources within reach and is making for an improved environment, driver of our survival.
