The Jacinto Convit Foundation has managed to consolidate its work in the area of health in Venezuela, focusing on the provision of free molecular diagnostic services through agreements with public health centers. In November 2023, we participated with our project in the Giving Tuesday event, managing to obtain significant donations to provide care to children and adults with leukemia who go to public hospitals in Venezuela. This population belongs to the low and middle socioeconomic strata, and many families do not have the necessary resources to access diagnostic tests in private laboratories, so the Foundation offers them this service free of charge.
The patients treated to date are as follows: February 2024 (39), March 2024 (26), April 2024 (33), May 2024 (29) for a total of 127 patients in a 4-month period.
As mentioned above, we have obtained the approval of a new cooperation agreement with the Central Hospital of Maracay, We are currently completing the legal procedures for the signing of this agreement. With this new alliance, we add a total of eleven (11) public health centers that are receiving our free services.
In addition, we are pleased to inform that it is already published in the Gaceta Médica de Caracas, the specialized journal. The work entitled "Standardization of the nested PCR technique for the detection of TCF3/PBX1 and KMT2A/AFF1 translocations in patients with acute lymphoid leukemia referred to the Molecular Diagnostic Unit of the Jacinto Convit Foundation" will be published in volume 132 (1) 2024 of said journal. https://academianacionaldemedicina.org/publicaciones/gm-volumen-132-no1-enero-marzo-2024/
At the Jacinto Convit Foundation we continue to work tirelessly to carry out our program and continue serving the Venezuelan population that needs it most. Our commitment is to provide an invaluable contribution to the area of health in Venezuela and continue contributing to the well-being of the community.
