In Medellin - Colombia, thousands of children face conditions of poverty, which generates less cognitive development due to lower quality food, the development of fewer technical and scientific skills due to unequal access to education, insecurity at home and a greater risk of abandonment, neglect, abuse and conditions of destitution as well as child labor exploitation.
1 in 4 children lives in poverty
1 in 10 children does not receive an education
Children up to 10 years old face prostitution
1 in 4 girls get married before the age of 18
more than 20,000 a year suffer attacks
With more than 40% of Colombia's population living in poverty, children continue to be the most vulnerable and most affected by this condition. Not only do they tend to repeat the patterns of poverty that their parents have experienced, but on many occasions these patterns are aggravated by inequality of opportunities and due to the armed conflicts and frequent natural disasters that the country faces.
At SUPERARSE, we protect boys and girls from these and many other risks that children face every day.
