Mama Dragons have never run from having frank conversations when it comes to our LGBTQ+ children and our families.
Our social media conversations at Mama Dragons have been expanding to reflect our work to hold Courageous Conversations not just within our families, our schools, our churches and our communities, but also in all of the places where decisions are made that impact our families health and wellfare.
Our social media has taken on greater urgency to include more information about our lifesaving programs that help parents move towards acceptance, affirmation and celebrations of their children. But we have also pivoted to bring more timely information about current efforts to dismantle the very policies that protect the healthcare and general wellbeing of our children.
Under new leadership, Mama Dragons is moving towards a more active role in bringing forward the voices of parents who have had personal experiences where they have had to confront intense homophobia, transphobia and religious trauma. We will build bridges with others to find common ground in our values, in our hopes for our children and to change the narrative.
We are also utilizing our social media platforms to expand our reach to inform the public about the LUV Conference, a 2 day parenting conference on October 18-19 in Salt Lake City, UT where parents, caregivers and mental health providers can learn, connect and create a more supportive environment for LGBTQ+ individuals and their families.
