Help defend and protect LGBTQ+ rights in Tanzania

We are thrilled by the widespread support we received last year, a sum of $11,439 was raised. Thank very much for your continued support.

The funds raised was spent to implement a number of activates including

1. $4,000 payment of office rent   
2. $3,000 capacity building project that benefited 25 LGBT activists from Tanzania mainland and Zanzibar.
3. $3,000 cover legal fees
4. $1,439 was used to cover utilities, internet and communication and emergency support to LGBT+ individuals who were in need

As reported in our previous report, our organization going to become active this year especially in the area of advocacy and providing free legal services to LGBT+ individuals, we are also going to direct with our local coordinators and providing available resources so that they can effectively help in solving the most pressing challenges and needs of the LGBT+ community in their areas.

We intend to print 3000 copies of brochures rich with scientific facts about homosexuality that will provide understanding knowledge on how and why LGBT people are not criminals and not unnatural people.

We have also finalized the agreement with full-time attorney, who will be able to provide legal and consultation services on a daily basis, in addition to providing education and legal expertise on sections of the Tanzanian penal code, which criminalize homosexuality and suppress the rights of minorities based on gender identity and sexual orientation. This is exactly what we want our people to know and understand how to defend themselves when their rights are violated based on their gender identity and sex orientation.

Based on the political, cultural, traditional and religious environment in the country our work face anti-LGBT opposition and depends entirely on donations to sustain our day-to-day operations. Thanks to you for being part of our struggle.  Kindly continue supporting us this year too.

We remain insecure as a minority organization advocating on behalf of LGBT+ people, and running the organization in rented premises especially when landlords are very inflexible, so we must always pay rent on time to avoid eviction.
