For over a decade, our unwavering partnership with GlobalGiving Foundation has yielded remarkable results, raising an impressive total of $169,967 and to support more than 800 LGBTQ individuals in Tanzania. This enduring alliance has empowered us to offer a wide range of essential services to those in need. From providing temporary housing and facilitating safe relocations to offering crucial trauma counseling, legal assistance, educational scholarships, emergency aid, nutritious meals, essential medications, and clothing, as well as safety training, HIV awareness, and prevention education, and the distribution of free water-based lubricants and condoms, our programs have made a tangible difference in the lives of the LGBTQ community in Tanzania.
Our collaborative efforts have not only brought financial support but have also fostered a sense of community and belonging among LGBTQ individuals in Tanzania. By creating a network of support and resources, we have been able to address the various challenges and obstacles faced by this marginalized group. Through our initiatives, we have seen a significant increase in access to healthcare services, a reduction in instances of discrimination and violence, and a greater sense of empowerment and self-worth among LGBTQ individuals.
Furthermore, through this partnership, we have successfully introduced pioneering programs and projects that have made a significant impact on the LGBTQ community in Tanzania. One example of this is our educational scholarships, which have supported 60 LGBTQ individuals in pursuing further education and specialized training, resulting in a rise in job opportunities and financial self-sufficiency. Additionally, our initiatives focused on HIV awareness and prevention have played a key role in reducing the spread of HIV among the LGBTQ population in Tanzania. These efforts have also played a crucial role in fostering a more inclusive and accepting community around us.
Baina, a Tanzanian civil society leader, shared his thoughts on March 14, 2016, following his participation in our workshops and interactions with LGBTQ individuals.
“I had an opportunity to meet LGBTQ people who are educated and learned from them during this training, I was totally wrong about you guys and now I understand that we are all equal regardless of our SOGIC differences, I promise to work hand in hand with you and make sure there is no discriminative law that will suppress the rights of LGBT in this country, please print books and reports and I personally will distribute them to my network"
Reflecting on the impact of our partnership, we are encouraged by the progress achieved and determined to further our efforts in aiding LGBTQ individuals in Tanzania. Together, we can foster a more inclusive and empathetic society where all can flourish and express themselves authentically. Our ongoing partnership with GlobalGiving Foundation and you all has played a pivotal role in enhancing the well-being of LGBTQ members in Tanzania. Through our joint endeavors, we have successfully delivered vital assistance and support to those in need, ultimately fostering a more welcoming and supportive atmosphere for the LGBTQ community in Tanzania.
