Annual Report for 2024
LGBT Voice Tanzania extends warm wishes for a joyful New Year to our cherished supporters. We are excited to unveil our comprehensive 2024 annual report, showcasing the significant accomplishments and financial health of our organization.
The previous year have posed numerous hurdles and challenges, primarily due to limited funding, which placed us in jeopardy of losing our sole office. This office is crucial, serving as a sanctuary for LGBTQ+ individuals who depend on our essential services. Despite these formidable obstacles, our unwavering commitment to protecting the rights and interests of the LGBTQ+ community has not wavered. This dedication fuels our continued efforts to ensure inclusivity and strive for a hopeful future for LGBTQ+ individuals in Tanzania.
In 2024, LGBT Voice Tanzania made remarkable strides in strengthening the LGBTQ+ community.
- We provided free legal assistance to 32 individuals, ensuring their rights were upheld and defended.
- Additionally, we offered trauma counseling to 78 people, addressing their emotional and psychological needs, and helping them navigate the complexities of their experiences.
- In our quest to promote education, we funded the education of one individual, opening doors to new opportunities and a brighter future.
- Furthermore, we provided short-term housing and relocation assistance to five individuals, offering a safe haven for those experiencing distress or danger.
- To extend our reach and impact, we established three new support groups in the Morogoro and Njombe regions. These groups serve as nurturing environments where community and unity can flourish, providing spaces for individuals to connect and support one another. Throughout the year, our advocacy efforts have been relentless, consistently championing the rights and welfare of the LGBTQ+ community with unwavering determination and passion. Our work remains vital as we continue to strive for a more inclusive and accepting society for all.
Thanks to the generous donations from our supporters and our fundraising efforts via GlobalGiving, we managed to raise a total of $6,299. Moreover, we obtained a restricted grant of $4,800 for legal fees $2,900 from additional online sources and $400 offline, enabling us to continue our essential work in the community.
The funds raised have been strategically allocated to cover our necessary expenses, ensuring the sustained operation of our programs and support services. These expenses include:
- $4,800- Office Rent: Maintaining a physical space where we can coordinate our activities and provide a safe environment for our staff and community members.
- $4,699- Legal Fees: Protecting the rights of our community, offering legal assistance, and advocating for policy changes.
- $2,500- Counselling Trauma: Providing essential mental health support to those affected by trauma, ensuring they receive the care and guidance needed to heal and thrive.
- -$1,600 Temporary Shelter: Offering a safe haven for individuals in crisis, providing them with a secure place to stay during difficult times.
- $400- School Fees sponsorship: Investing in the future of our community by supporting educational opportunities for LGBTQ+ youth.
- $300- Secure website hosting and Maintenance
- $100- Bank charges

NEED
This year, we aim to raise $16,000 to cover our organization's expenses, including a $971 legal fee debt from last year. We sincerely ask for your ongoing support throughout the year so we can continue delivering essential services to the LGBTQ+ community in need.
