LGBT Voice Tanzania: 2024–2025 Annual Report
Theme: Defending Dignity: Expanding Safe Spaces and Legal Resilience
Year in Review
Despite intensifying legal and social pressures, the 2024–2025 fiscal year was marked by unwavering resilience and life-saving intervention. LGBT Voice Tanzania served as a critical, secure lifeline, successfully navigating a high-risk operational environment to deliver urgent relief. Our ultimate impact is measured not just in services delivered, but in lives secured and dignities defended.
Key Program Achievements
Our commitment to action resulted in measurable progress in securing safety and rights:
Immediate Safety Secured for 36 Lives: In moments of acute threat, our 24/7 emergency system mobilized rapid aid to 36 individuals in crisis. This immediate intervention established stability, allowing 75% of these survivors to successfully transition to long-term, secure housing and support. We also processed a total of 367 unique requests for help, underlining the critical demand.
Building Legal Defenses: We successfully empowered 452 individuals with confidential legal counsel and defended rights in critical high-impact cases. Beyond courtrooms, we secured 85% knowledge retention among the 33 community advocates trained, directly fostering local, self-sustaining resilience against increasing legal threats.
Systemic Advocacy: We launched the Lived Realities policy report, providing vital, localized data that is already informing our efforts to drive measurable systemic changes within key healthcare and organizational partnerships.
Health and Wellness: We successfully provided trauma-informed support and secure health access to 202 individuals, maintaining an impressive 80% engagement rate in follow-up care, reflecting strong community trust in our confidential referral networks.
The Critical Funding Gap: Investing in Future Safety
Our financial strategy reflects absolute commitment to efficiency:
FISCAL EFFICIENCY:86% of every shilling went directly to core life-saving programs, keeping administrative overhead low at 14%. (100% of revenue came from individual donors).
THE URGENT NEED: The overwhelming demand for services—especially legal and trauma support—shows a critical capacity gap. We must expand our team to sustain our 75% positive outcome rate.
OUR ASK: We require TZS 120,000,000 (approx. USD $54,820) for the 2025–2026 fiscal year. This investment will immediately expand emergency shelter capacity by 50% and fund the hire of a dedicated mental health counselor and legal officers, directly increasing our intervention capacity and securing long-term stability for the community.
