Career Day 2021

By KENETY S. GEE | Executive Director and Project Leader

Students in Liberia like many other poor economies have suffered many set backs these last two academic years.  The impact of COVID-19 fell unevenly, deepened educational disparities and impeded opportunities and achievement for Liberian students.   The last two years preceding COVID-19, students enrolled in Liberia Career Pathways’ Programs did above average in every academic category, making high marks in standardized public exams and graduating high schools prepared to enroll in post-secondary education including vocational training programs.

However, Liberian students have very limited learning opportunities outside of the classroom.  Therefore, during COVID when lock downs were imposed and schools closed, learning opportunities ceased for many students, setting them back in an already underprivileged education system.

Now that COVID is easing up and restrictions relaxed, Liberia Career Pathways is doubling its effort to get our students back on track as much as possible.

As part of the effort to keep students engaged, Liberia Career Pathways hosted its annual Career Day program in late June.  Career Day is a day when students and practicing professional come together in a forum to disccuss various careers and the paths to get to them.

Professionals in various fields speak to students about their professional achievement,  how they got there and what desiring students need to do to choose careers that match their desires.

Career Day involves local and international speakers from a variety of professional backgrounds and desciplines.  In speaking about careers in Liberia, we ensure and encourage students to get on career paths that are profitable and supportive to Liberia's growth.

We thank all our friends and supporters for your ongoing support as we work to lift Liberian leaners and prepare them for Liberia's workforce.
