Every year, thousands of children in Mauritania die from preventable causes. We are changing this by putting life-saving technology in the hands of community health heroes. Our project digitizes medical protocols to guide diagnosis and treatment, while accompanying mothers during the critical 1,000-day window with tele-health alerts on vaccines, health and nutrition. By providing real-time data for better decisions, we ensure that every child receives the expert care they deserve to survive
Mauritania has one of the world's highest maternal mortality rates-every birth is a risk. In rural areas, where millions of people live far from the nearest clinic, 1 in 13 children die before age five. Families in isolated villages often rely on community health workers who lack the tools and support they need. Without real-time information, emergencies go unnoticed, and vital medicines run out. What should be treatable becomes deadly. Every missed alert can mean a life lost.
We bring expert care to every home and real-time data to decision-makers. We equip community health workers with a simple mobile tool that guides home visits, detects risks early, and sends alerts for urgent cases. It works offline and shares data with health teams to respond faster, prevent shortages, and ensure timely care for mothers and children.
This project will support thousands of mothers and children across rural Mauritania by ensuring they receive timely care during the most critical first 1,000 days of life. By improving early detection and access to treatment, it will help reduce preventable deaths and strengthen the entire health system. Over time, communities will have better access to care, healthier children, and greater confidence that no family will face a medical emergency alone.
