Sierra Leone Delay

By Megan Birney Rudert | President & CEO, Unite to Light

The World Food Programme (WFP) in Sierra Leone, our implementation partner, has decided to distribute the solar lights and chargers in Sittia, one of WFP's most vulnerable chiefdoms located on Shabro Island in Sierra Leone. Given the intensive rainy season experienced this year and the difficulty of accessing the island, the WFP is planning to distribute the items in January 2025. While Unite to Light apologize for the delay, we support the WFP's decision to prioritize this region for the distribution. It is important to get these products where they are most needed. We should have a full distribution report in early 2025 that we will share through GlobalGiving and our website.
