Curriculum Development Workshops

On Thursday January 19, 2017, our Learning Center’s local professors and assistants gathered to participate in a curriculum development workshop led by Tiffany Brown, one of our Princeton in Latin America fellows.  The purpose of these workshops is for local professors to redesign and organize their lesson plans thematically and eventually unify them into a curriculum.  These series of monthly workshops will continue until June in the hopes of developing an original and creative curriculum tailored to the needs of all LC students by local professors.

University Scholar Graduate, Julio Louis, To Work For Yspaniola

This month, Julio Louis, Yspaniola University Scholar graduate, will be joining our team as new Local Program Coordinator. Julio has previous experience working in the nonprofit sector, such as Global Glimpse and DREAM Project, where he has deepened his understanding of education and development issues in the Dominican Republic. In addition to focusing on community relations and development, one of his primary responsibilities will be running the University Scholarship Program as applications open in the upcoming months.  Julio shares, “I am very happy to be returning to Batey Libertad and to be working alongside Yspaniola to create positive change in the community and empower youth in their pursuit of an education.” We are thrilled to have Julio be a part of our team and are excited to see what we will accomplish together this year!
