In a country with an index of human development equal to 0,744 (UNDP 2017), the extreme poverty strikes above all children. The cities, degrade and with an elevated rate of crime, become dangerous more and more for los meninos da rua: around 24.000 children live on the road without the protection of their parents, in nanny of the traffickers of drugs and the prostitution. In Brazil, education is guaranteed to everybody but the work to census the inhabitants in the big urban agglomerations produces a great difficulty from the government to force children to attend the school.
All this, assistant to the poverty of families that live in the favelas, involves a rate of elevated scholastic abandonment with the consequent increase of children that spend the days for road, exposed to abuses and sexual exploitation. The data brought by the Brazilian Secretariat for the Human Rights sustain that the public corporate body have recorded to the minute three cases of sexual violence towards children (SDH 2014).
The data are alarming and for this that is important to be able to sustain the project Little Butterflies: as underlined more times Father Hudson, we don’t want to give only physical and psychological assistance, but the greatest challenge is that to fight such dramatic reality. We want to intervene in a preventive optics, sensitizing the community and favoring the creation of a strong and effective network between the active services on the territory. For this, are planned awareness campaigns and the popularization of informative material, with the purpose to increase the knowledge of phenomenon and to go out so that the common thought "has always been so, what can we do?".
Besides, although some stereotypes believe that the abuse sexual respects above all girls, in reality also many children of masculine sex are victims of sexual violence both from families and from extraneous. The same father Hudson confirms as is in increase the number of boys and as really with them is very more difficulty to make them overcome the embarrassment and the feeling of guilt, for then to make go out of the painful silence and to bring to tell the violence.
Thanks to your generous donations, we sustain more always the jewel job of Father Hudson and of his formidable collaborators that, with love and determination, fight every day to guarantee protection to children, helping them to find again the smile and the colors of the life.
