Because of the covid19 and the lockdown that followed, the Brazilian government decided the closure of our centre and all the other centres in the country. But our local collaborator, Father Hudson, assured us that all children are well. We do not have cases of covid19, nor serious situations for other diseases. Another serious situation, referred to the children who attended the school, where they received daily service in the morning and a meal at noon, with the current situation, many of them have a very serious family situation, where the possibility of eating has become difficult because many people have lost their jobs and are unable to support themselves and their family and pay their rent also.
This emergency affects a lot of families because the number of people infected refers to the people who could go to the hospital. And so, all people who live in favelas and do not have health coverage die in silence. Most of these people do not have a birth certificate.
The epidemic develops especially among the Indios who live far from the cities and hospitals and do not have the possibility to respect the measures to contrast the virus.
We hope to be able to start activities again as soon as possible and to help children who continue to suffer abuse and violence in many forms
