Dear Donor,

we are really grateful for your important help to our project “Little Butterflies” in the Amazon. Thanks to your support we want to contribute to the fight against sexual abuses and children and teenager trafficking in Manaus.

Covid emergency is still worrying in the Amazon, where infections are still increasing. Since July the Amazon has become again an orange zone that represents a moderate risk of transmissibility. Facial masks have become compulsory in some areas (like at schools and in public transports) in the state of Amazonas and they are recommended everywhere for the most fragile people. Some municipalities have started advertising campaigns that promote the acceleration of vaccination with the aim of avoiding hospitalizations and deaths.

Our local representatives report that, after the main period of emergency in which the psychological and social support has been delivered mainly online, from the 1st of September 2022 42 children and teenagers victim of abuse are cared in person and they are followed by experts (four psychologists and one social worker). All the consultations take place once a week for two hours and children take part in group therapy or individual meeting according to their needs. All the services of food delivery, transport and internet connection for the online consultations are still provided. Online consultations give indeed the possibility to reach even more children and teens that live in the forest and that can benefit from specialized psychological cares. This service developed by our local representatives is unique in the entire Amazon.

For this reason, your support is really fundamental!

Thank you
